The Caledonia Children's Advocacy Center (CCAC) is a place where victims of sexual abuse or serious physical abuse of children can receive support. The goal of CCAC is to provide a location where victims and their non-offending family members will feel safe and can receive support for the variety of problems associated with these crimes. The Caledonia Children's Advocacy Center is dedicated to supporting victims and to educating the community about child abuse.
The CCAC was established to assure that the citizens of all communities in Caledonia and South Essex counties benefit from the effectiveness and support provided by a team of professionals who jointly respond to allegations of sexual violence and serious child abuse.
Local agencies that participate in the CCAC include the Caledonia State's Attorneys Office, the Vermont State Police, the Vermont Department of Children and Families, the Vermont Department of Corrections, the St. Johnsbury Police Department, the Hardwick Police Department, the Essex County Sheriff's Department, Umbrella, AWARE, Northeast Vermont Regional Hospital, St. Johnsbury Pediatrics and the ChildSafe Program of Vermont, Northeast Kingdom Human Services, and other professionals. These agencies have joined together to assure that the victims and their non-offending family members receive prompt, professional, and competent investigations and support by a team of professionals who have been specially trained to support them through disclosure, investigations, and prosecution of sexual violence and serious child abuse.
